Bradford car dealer is tickled pink with brightly coloured Range Rover

Farnell Land Rover Bradford, part of the Co-operative Motors Group, are celebrating selling more than 500 Range Rover Evoques over the last 12 months.
To show they were ‘tickled pink’ with the achievement they created what is believed to be the world’s only pink version of the vehicles, which is endorsed by Victoria Beckham.
Group marketing manager Claire Summerton said: “The Evoque really is the success story of 2012, and we wanted to do something to mark that. We’re getting increasing numbers of requests for bespoke vehicles, so we decided to create something very special and unique. We don’t believe there’s another pink Evoque like this anywhere else in the world.”
Earlier this year the dealership in King’s Road, Bradford, was named the country’s top Land Rover dealership, beating 130 other dealers to clinch the title The Bradford dealership was one of the first Land Rover dealerships in the world, having sold the vehicles since they were launched in 1948 and opened a £1 million showroom in 2011, creating 15 new jobs.

The Co-op announced this month is was selling its Renault and Nissan dealership on Thornton Road, Bradford to a North-East-based group. The former Sunwin Motors was among six being sold to Gateshead-based Vertu, which trades as Bristol Street Motors, in a £5.5 million deal.
A Co-operative spokesman said: “As with any large organisation, we keep our portfolio of businesses under review, and these motor dealerships no longer fit our long-term strategic objectives.”
Meanwhile, the Bradford-based motors group JCT600 – which is one of the UK’s fastest growing family businesses – had its best ever month for used car sales during August.

The Apperley Bridge -based group, which operates 42 dealerships throughout Yorkshire, Derbyshire, Lincolnshire and the North East selling 21 car brands, saw used car sales rise by 15 per cent year on year.
New car sales to private buyers also increased by 16 per cent for the first eight months of 2012. The group saw higher demand across its dealerships.
Chief executive John Tordoff said: “It’s great to see JCT600 once again bucking the trend.
“Nationally, used car sales in the UK have been flat throughout the year and new car registrations at the end of July were only up by 3.5 per cent.
“There’s no doubt that consumers have been watching the pennies, but having based our business on providing good Yorkshire value and outstanding customer service, we are now starting to reap the rewards as the market begins to improve.
“While the market generally is still well down on pre-recessionary levels, there is pent-up demand and we are definitely seeing signs that confidence is returning despite financial uncertainty in the Eurozone.”
JCT600 was again featured in the latest Sunday Times BDO Top Track 100, which ranks private companies with the biggest sales, although it slipped from 94th to 99th place.
In the period to December 2011, JCT600 employed 1,359 staff and made £15 million profit on a turnover of £623 million.
