Tinubu Shuts Down Critics, Reveals Why He Was Conspicuously Absent During Buhari’s Working Visit

APC’s national leader, Bola Tinubu, was conspicuously absent during the president visit, causing tongues to wag. President Buhari had on Wednesday, April 24, visited Lagos state to commission some projects done by Governor Ambode’s administration.

The national leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, on Thursday, April 25, revealed why he was absent during President Muhammadu Buhari’s projects commissioning in Lagos on Wednesday, April 24.

According to SaharaReporters, President Muhammadu Buhari was in Lagos State on Wednesday to commission some projects by the administration of Akinwunmi Ambode, outgoing Governor of the state.
Among the projects were the 10-lane Oshodi–Murtala Muhammed International Airport Road, the 170-Bed ‘Ayinke House’ (Maternity Hospital)) at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Ikeja; the Oshodi Transport Interchange and 820 mass transit buses.

However, Tinubu has said he was absent because he is currently out of the country.

However, Tinubu’s special adviser on media, Tunde Rahman, said his principal missed the event because he is currently out of the country. He said: “Asiwaju Bola Tinubu is not in town. He is currently out of the country.

That was why he was not present at the occasion,” he said.

Also, The Independent reported that there were insinuations that Tinubu shunned the event as a payback for the president’s absence at the colloquium organised last month to mark his 67th birthday.

In the same vein, Minister of Works, Housing and Power, Mr. Babatunde Fashola was also absent at the commissioning of projects in Lagos by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Mr. Fashola was allegedly not invited by the incumbent governor and host, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, further issues yet to be clarified include, whether they were properly invited and given enough notice, among others.

A source explained that Buhari couldn’t have abandoned Ambode in his present ordeal, following the governor’s contributions to his reelection funding. “What Ambode did for Buhari is just like what the Minister of Transport, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi did in 2015. Indeed, Lagos may end up having two ministerial slots in the next Federal Executive Council (FEC), and it is obvious Ambode will get one.”

Joining Ambode to receive Buhari were governors Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State, Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State, Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State, Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State, as well as Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Governor-Elect of Lagos.
