Olagbende, who ordered that Ogbu be remanded in the Ikoyi Prison, added that she needed advice from the state’s Directorate of Public Prosecutions as the defendant was not represented by any counsel.
PUNCH Metro had reported that Ogbu allegedly stabbed Oreoluwa to death on June 19 in the Surulere area of the state, while the victim’s mother, Adejoke, was said to have also slumped and died due to the shock of her daughter’s murder.
According to the police, an argument ensued between Oreoluwa and Ogbu when she told him to clean the compound around 9pm on the day of the incident, but the suspect allegedly stabbed his employer to death in the heat of the argument.
Ogbu was said to have packed some valuables in the house and loaded them into Oreoluwa’s car and drove off from the scene of the incident.
It was gathered that the suspect was arrested by police personnel on patrol while he was trying to escape.
The police prosecutor, O. W. Ologun, told the court that Ogbu used a sharp object to stab Oreoluwa to death and allegedly strangled her 89-year-old mother.
He added that the defendant stole Oreoluwa’s Toyota Camry car, Gionee, Itel and Nokia phones, a power bank, a pair of scissors, two cutlasses, an LG Plasma television set and a handbag containing clothes and towels.
According to him, the offences contravene sections 223 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
Olagbende, however, ordered that the defendant be remanded in prison pending the advice of the DPP and adjourned the case till July 30.
