The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, on Sunday asked President Muhammadu Buhari to without wasting more time; find a lasting solution to the siege on Yorubaland by herdsmen and kidnappers
Oba Adeyemi, who stated this in his letter to President Buhari on the increasing spate of insecurity in and across Yorubaland, stressed that it is now time for President to ensure that those involved in the siege are tamed and brought to book.
But Arigbabuwo, in a statement issued in Kaduna, said, “The current security situations in the country require the coming together of those who love the nation and not of passing bucks and ethnicise the unfortunate development.
“It is sad the many leaders of our great nation have turned the situation into politics where they made statements capable of tearing the country apart.”
He lamented that Nigerians, who have been living together for hundreds of years, are now seeing crimes from an ethnic point of view, stressing that the recent happenings in the country should be viewed holistically.
“All stakeholders in the nation’s project must come together to find a lasting solution to the menace.
“Recent happenings on the killing of a daughter of a notable politician by a yet to be identified criminals has been given political and ethnic coloration by those who do not wish the country anything good.
“Why one tribe must be stigmatized as criminals whereas crime has no tribe. The media creation of people referred to as herdsmen does not mean that they are certain tribes as there are herdsmen all over the country.
“Therefore the bashing of Fulani as criminals and kidnappers is an attempt by those who want to create crisis in the country to give the tribe a bad name to get to their target,” he asked.
Arigbabuwo enjoined the government to trace the root of the rampaging Fulanis, where they are coming from and how they entered the country unchecked.
