The Federal University Oye Ekiti, Ekiti State, Nigeria (FUOYE), has denied plans to redesign its Top-Up programme for the purpose of converting Higher National Diploma (HND) into a degree programme as being circulated online, describing it as bogus and patently misleading.
Besides, it debunked rolling out any admission form of any kind in respect of the purported conversion Top-Up programme.
According to a news item, which had gone viral and authored by one Adekunle Dada, entitled "FUOYE Commences HND-degree conversion programme, no more worries for Higher National Diploma (HND) graduates who desire to have a university first degree in Nigeria Federal University Oye Ekiti," did not emanate from the university, "hence we disclaim it in its entirety."
In a statement by the university Public Relations Officer, Mr. Foluso Ogunmodede, the
news item which had gone viral did not emanate from the university.
He said: "The attention of management of the Federal University Oye Ekiti, Ekiti State, Nigeria has been drawn to a bogus and patently misleading news being circulated on Social Media and other platforms that FUOYE has redesigned its Top-Up programme for the purpose of converting HND into degree programme as lies from the pit of hell.
"We hereby state clearly that the viral news is a bogus contraption from individuals with ignoble intensions who may want to scam unsuspecting members of the public.
"The news item authored by one Adekunle Dada, did not emanate from the university and this notice serves as a Disclaimer.
"We, therefore, enjoin the public to disregard the bogus viral news and note that FUOYE will not be liable for any loss suffered by anyone who chooses to transact any business whatsoever with those behind the bogus news as authored by the said Adekunle Dada."
