A Retired Deputy Director of the National Youth Service Corps, Mrs Regina Illuebey has charged corps members to make meaningful use of their service year.She said that the steps they take now would determine their future.She therefore tasked them to set the foundation of their endeavours on hard work and integrity.
Illuebey gave this charge during her motivational lecture to 2023 Batch C stream one corps members at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Iseyin.
She also encouraged the corps members to cultivate ideas and acquire relevant skills that would enable them become employers of labor rather than job seekers and perpetual dependant on parents for sustenance.
She enjoined them not to underestimate what they are learning on camp , reiterating that creativity with residual knowledge as a graduate makes a lot of difference in Entrepreneural world.She equally pointed out that they should not despise the days of little beginning as little drops of water makes an ocean.
Mrs Illuebey further admonished the corps members to be guided by the rules at their Places of Primary Assignment while discharging their duties with all seriousness and in humility not looking down on anybody. She affirmed that every assignment is a learning process and gives room for exposure.The guest lecturer added that the corps members should learn to respect people as such is highly revered in this part of the nation.
The erstwhile Deputy Director also advised the corps members to be security conscious always and be sensitive to their environment. She asked them to live a low life during their service year and should not display affluence so as not to be a target to criminals.She however warned them to stay away from crime as being a corps member does not serve as an immunity against the law.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Oyo State Coordinator,Mr Odoba Abel Oche appreciated the Guest Lecturer for taking her time to motivate the corps members at the camp. He expressed optimism that the corps members would tap from her wealth of experience and apply the lessons of the motivational lecture in their life's endeavors.
The highlight of the event was the cultural presentation and hearty cheers to the Retired Deputy Director .
