The State Coordinator NYSC Oyo State, Comrade Odoba Abel Oche has tasked Corps members mobilised to Oyo State and their counterparts dislodged from Lagos for the 2023 Batch 'C' stream 2 orientation course to go into the nooks and cranny of Oyo and Lagos State and render selfless service for the next 11 months.
While delivering his address during the Closing ceremony of the 2023 Batch C stream 2 orientation course at the NYSC Oyo State permanent orientation camp Iseyin, he congratulated Corps members for the successful completion of the orientation exercise which forms the basis of their service year and applauded their courage, perseverance and commitment.
Odoba expressed confidence in the competence and commitment of the Corps members to make meaningful impact during their service year with the level of mental reengineering, reorientation and discipline the orientation course has infused in them.
The Coordinator urged them to take their postings with equanimity and brace up to the challenges of nation building. He encouraged them to start nurturing and exhibit leadership traits by beginning to dream big about their host communities and create visions that will outlast them in those communities.
Odoba harped on the importance of Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme and enjoined Corps members to take it very seriously. “The Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme you have been made to go through was aimed at preparing you for the post service self-employment. It would also help to stem the tide of the alarming rate of youth unemployment. In view of this, make sure you continue with post camp training to perfect your skills. We have trained you to be job creators and not job seekers” he said.
He appreciated the Executive Chairman, Iseyin Local Government, Hon. Mufutau Abilawon Osuolale who provided accommodation for staff that vacated their hostels for Corps members and also donated a cow to support the feeding of Corps members.He said the Chairman has been a very good host who dearly holds the interest of the youth at heart.
Odoba equally urged the Corps members to be good ambassadors of the NYSC Scheme and continue living its ideals.He said the NYSC has lived up to expectations for over five decades and its image sustained.He therefore charged them to positively project the image of the Scheme wherever they find themselves.
