Imo Arigidi Youth Forum IAYF
His Excellency Ag. Governor Lucky Orisan Ayedatiwa,
Office of the Governor,
Ondo State Government,
Ondo State, Nigeria,
December 19th, 2023.
LETTER OF PROTEST REGARDING THE NEGLIGENCE OF THE ONDO STATE GOVERNMENT ON THE 12-YEAR ABANDONED 2KM ROAD SPANNIG FROM AGBALUKU TO IMO ARIGIDI ROAD CAUSING ANNUAL DUST HAZARD
Dear Acting Governor Lucky O. Ayedatiwa,
We hope this letter finds you in good health and high spirits. We sincerely congratulate you on your current fatesome appointment as the incumbent acting governor of our dear state. Your speech in your statewide address to ondo state general public speaks volume of your clear visions and patriotism towards promoting our State core values.
Secondly, we are writing to you today as a concerned and aggrieved community indigenous youth forum of Imo Arigidi and citizens of Ondo State we hereby express our grievances in strong terms over the negligence of Ondo State Government commencing from the Dr. Olusegun Mimiko led administration till date, on the deplorable and hazardous condition of the Arigidi road, which has been abandoned for 12 years following the removal of the existing motorable asphalt pavement upon the awarded reconstruction of the road about 12years ago during Mimiko’ government. The negligence in completing the construction of this vital infrastructure has resulted in annual dust hazards that are affecting the health and well-being of residents in the vicinity.
The federal road is a key link connecting several communities in Ondo State and inter-states transportation. It serves as a passage for essential goods transportation between the Nigerian northern and southwest region, trade activities, and daily commutes for the residents of Imo Arigidi and the surrounding areas. However, the state of this road has deteriorated significantly over the years, leading to unimaginable inconveniences and health hazards for the people.
The primary concern we wish to address is the excessive dust pollution that plagues the area on an annual basis. As the road remains unpaved and in a perpetual deplorable state, most especially during this dry season, it transforms into a dusty nightmare for the people. The dust particles settles on everything, causing respiratory problems, allergies, and various other health issues among the residents. The dust hazard is particularly harmful to the young, elderly, and those already suffering from respiratory conditions. It is disheartening and unbearable to witness the sufferings and discomfort endured by our people year after year.
Your excellency, we understand that funds and resources are limited, and there are various projects competing for attention. Nevertheless, we implore you to prioritize the construction and completion of this road. This federal road is not only crucial for the well-being of the people but also for the economic growth and development of the region and Ondo state by extension. By addressing this longstanding issue, you will effectively contribute to the progress of Ondo State as a whole.
As concerned youths and law abiding citizens, we are willing to collaborate with the government and provide any assistance necessary to expedite the construction completion process so as to discourage any imminent confrontational protest that may not be seen palatable to the both federal and state government activities from the community youths over this injustice and gross abandonment. We humbly request that you take immediate investigating and provisional action to the construction completion of the abandoned road. Additionally, we kindly ask for transparency in the progress made and consistent communication through the youth forum president regarding the steps being taken to address this matter.
Excellency, we believe in your commitment to serving the people of Ondo State and trust that you will take swift action to remedy this situation. We look forward to witnessing the implementation of a sustainable solution that will alleviate the suffering of the residents and restore the abandoned 2km road of Agbaluku – Imo Arigidi federal road to its former glory.
Thank you for your attention and consideration.
Yours Faithfully,
Signatories:
