The American gaffer Is expected to be Incharge of the Super Falcons in the Olympic Qualifier Games Against Cameroon billed for Friday February 23 and Monday, February 26 2024.
Should we say, former Super Falcons head coach, Randy Waldrum will continue as the national team coach after signing what can be called a renewed contract with NFF?
Waldrum was with the national team at the 2023 FIFA women’s world cup tournament held in Australia and New Zealand. At the world cup, the Nigerian ladies achieved great feat, after they qualified for the knockout stages without losing any group game fixture.
Recall, prior to the world cup, the Pittsburgh women’s coach, relationship with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), went sour and he accused the association of misappropriation of funds, lack of morale-boosting policies and poor welfare package for the girls.
And the NFF in what seemed like a response through its Director of Communication Ademola Olajire, identified the gaffer as a blabbermouth, and worst Super Falcons coach who’s only motive was being at a FIFA world cup.
The American gaffer since after the world cup hasn’t been in charge of any Super Falcons game(Paris 2024 Olympics Games against Ethiopia). Waldrum’s assistant at the world cup, has been taking care of the nine-time African champions.
Has Randy Waldrum signs renewed Super Falcons contract?
However reliable sources have confirmed that Waldrum have signed a contract extension with the NFF and is expected to be in charge of Super Falcons in their coming games.
“I can confirm that @CoachWaldrum officially remains @NGSuper_Falcons coach. @thenff President @IbrahimMusaGus1 has signed the contract. Waldrum has submitted his program for the team. With an @Paris2024 @Olympics qualifier against @LionnesIndompt1 in mid-February, I hope he’s mobilised quickly,” journalist Osasu Obayiuwana posted on his Official X handle.
But what the deal is, something not clear to us at the time of publishing this post. The case of Randy Waldrum and Jose Peseiro still hang in the balance. Maybe, NFF decided to keep it in the dark for now.
