Super eagles victory over Bafana Bafana in the semi final game of AFCON 2023 isn't going down well with South African fans. Many South Africans are protesting and saying that they do not understand how Bafana Bafana overwhelmingly outplay the Nigerian side, but missed glaring opportunities at goal mouth and during penalty shootout.
Some South African fans on X Space, posted that Super Eagles used black magic to win, what they now referred to as "Nollywood Juju."

The dramatic turn of events that the led to Mokoena equaliser came after Nigeria celebrated their second goal through a tap-in from star forward Victor Osimhen.But play was called back to the other end of the field after VAR alerted the Egyptian referee that South African Percy Tau had been fouled in the area, and the match official concurred. And instead of a goal, blew penalty against Nigeria.
This may have given Bafana Bafana a renewed energy, and their fans believed they can win the game, but couldn't understand why Khuliso Mudau had a glaring chance to win for South Africa in added time at the end of regular time, but blazed over after goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali parried a Mokoena free kick.
Secondly, most South Africans believed if the game gets to penalty shootout, then Nigeria is out! They so much put their hope on Bafana Bafana penalty stopper, Ronwen Williams who made four saves as South Africa beat Cape Verde 2-1 on penalties to reach the Africa Cup of Nations semi-finals. They are almost sure he will repeat the same feat, but to their disappointment he didn't even know how the Nigerians were shooting the ball pass him. This is not ordinary, it must be Nollywood juju! The South African fans insisted on their thousands of post on social Media.
Meanwhile, the Nigeria High Commission issued an advisory to Nigerians living in South Africa, telling them to be cautious in the way they celebrate Nigeria's semi final win over South Africa, so another xenophobic violence may not arise.
