Elizade University is to enter into partnership with the Nigerian Airforce Institute of Safety, Ipetu-Ijesa on operational health safety.
The programme which will be mutually inclusive will require the Nigerian Airforce providing tactical training support for the University.
Elizade University is also expected to provide training at both Certificate, Diploma and Degree levels in specialized and identified areas of need to cover both pre-service and in-service trainings.
These were some of the collaborations initiated during a courtesy visit to the University by the Commandant Nigerian Airforce Institute of Safety (NAFIS), Ipetu-Ijesa, Air Commodore Friday Okon Bassey.
Elizade Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kayode Thadius Ijadunola, commended the Nigerian Airforce for its unique discipline as an elite military corps with exemplary professionalism.
He said Elizade University is more than ready to form a synergy with the Nigerian Airforce in order to deliver on mandates that will not only positively impact the students but the entire nation and the International Community.
Professor Ijadunola said the health safety and environment curriculum would be developed and integrated into science and Engineering degree programmes to give students holistic training.
According to him, great emphasis will be laid on pre-service training in order to have a multiplier effect, so that such programme is integrated into their curriculum such that the students graduate with these skills.
Professor Ijadunola noted with regrets that most organisations in Nigeria, but perhaps the big multi-nationals don’t take health safety and environment issues serious.
He advocated the need for the University to continue to provide the intellectual resource that will gavernice the larger society in a broader spectrum to attaining sustainable development.
Air Commodore Friday Bassey noted with admiration, the safety and security consciousness of Elizade University.
He said the fantastic ambience which Elizade University provides speaks volume about its preparedness to constantly and consistently produce Graduate and Post-graduate students that are ready made for global competitiveness.
Commodore Bassey enthused that what he has found on ground in Elizade University tallies with his dreams for harmony of knowledge and skills from the academia and the military professional background that will propel sustainable development.
