The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Akoko and District has paid a courtesy call on Management of Sam Maris University (SMU), Supare-Akoko.
The newly inaugurated Executive Committee of the Institute in Akoko and District led by Dr. Olusola Esther Igbekoyi, FCA lauded the Institution during the courtesy visit to the University recently.
Speaking during the visit, the immediate past Chairman, Mr. Mathew Ayodeji Adejuwon, FCA, in his state of euphoria over the serene environment and aesthetic structures of the University, described them as top-notch.
Adejuwon also commended the Vice-Chancellor of SMU, Prof. Francis Gbore for his exceptional efforts in laying solid foundation for the growth of the University.
In the same vein, the District Chairman, Dr. Olusola Esther Igbekoyi, FCA extolled Prof. Gbore for his exceptional virtues and support for the Institute. She noted that the University is running degree programmes in Accounting and some other related disciplines such as Finance and Taxation and promised to reciprocate the good gesture of the Vice-Chancellor by giving necessary support for the professional training of the students in the Department of Accounting and Finance of the University.
Responding, Prof. Gbore thanked the team for complimentary remarks and unbiased on-the-spot assessment of the University facilities for teaching, learning and research. He assured the Team that the University would continue to hobnob with ICAN.
Meanwhile, the Ultimate Club, a social organization in Akungba-Akoko, has called for a strong tie with Sam Maris University in order to promote town and gown relationship as well as societal development.
The President of the Club, Elder Jacob Ogidigbo, disclosed this during a courtesy visit to the Institution.
Ogidigbo expressed satisfaction with the quality of staff and state-of-the-art structures of SMU and urged parents and guardians to support the choice of the University as the first choice institution for UTME and Direct Entry admissions of their children and wards.
The Secretary of the Club, Prof. Olabinjo Adeofun also applauded the Founder of the University, Mr. Sam T. Ologunorisa, SAN for investing in tertiary education and situating the Institution in Akoko Land to support the course of humanity.
In his brief response, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Gbore thanked the Club for the honour of the visit and identifying with the University. He urged the members to use their political and social clouts to facilitate unprecedented growth and development of the Institution.
