The Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has declared that the days of partial and percentage-based salary payments are over, assuring that such practices are now behind the state.
He made this statement on Wednesday during his address at the NULGE DAY ceremony in Akure, attended by members of the National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE).
At the event, the union unanimously endorsed Governor Aiyedatiwa for the upcoming November 16 gubernatorial election and honored him with an award, naming him the Grand Patron.
Expressing gratitude for both the endorsement and award, Governor Aiyedatiwa reaffirmed his commitment to the welfare of state workers.
He assured the crowd that the newly approved N73,000 minimum wage would be paid without delay.
"I know you didn't come out today just to make a show of numbers. You are here to show your solidarity with me, and I am deeply grateful," the Governor said, acknowledging the union's support.
Additionally, the Governor revealed that leave bonuses for mainstream civil servants in the state had been approved and promised to intensify his efforts to improve workers' conditions if re-elected.
Fredrick Akinrilola, the State President of NULGE, in his welcome address, thanked Governor Aiyedatiwa for his consistent attention to the union's concerns and his dedication to the welfare of its members.
“Under your leadership, we have seen significant growth and progress. You've always been committed to our cause, which is why we have unanimously chosen to endorse you for the November 16 election," Akinrilola said.
He also emphasized that the union's support for Governor Aiyedatiwa is rooted in his proven track record of enhancing their working conditions and amplifying their voices.
"Governor Aiyedatiwa has always been a true ally, and we believe that with him, the future of local government employees in Ondo State is secure,” he concluded.
Bola Taiwo, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Union Matters, also commended Governor Aiyedatiwa for his selfless efforts to improve the well-being of civil and public servants in the state.
The National President of NULGE, Comrade Hakeem Ambali, also endorsed the Governor, expressing his satisfaction with the positive reports he had received regarding Aiyedatiwa’s leadership.
