Oborevwori best Governor award: A well-deserved honor – Olorogun Oviri Okwagbe

Olorogun Okiemute Oviri Okwagbe, JP, Executive Assistant to the Governor on Special Duties, Community Development, has described the This Day Newspaper/Arise TV Best Governor of the Year Award presented to His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, Governor of Delta State, on January 27, 2025, as a well-deserved honor.

As expected, commendations continue to pour in, celebrating Governor Oborevwori’s outstanding contributions to Delta State’s development. Among those applauding his leadership is Olorogun Oviri Okwagbe, who attributed the award to the governor’s visionary leadership and commitment to progress.

In a press statement released on Tuesday through his media aide, Olorogun Okwagbe praised Governor Oborevwori’s administration for its unwavering dedication to delivering the dividends of democracy. He highlighted the governor’s innovative policies and pragmatic programs under the MORE Agenda, which prioritize meaningful development, opportunities for all, realistic reforms, and enhanced peace and security.

According to Okwagbe, since assuming office on May 29, 2023, Governor Oborevwori has demonstrated exceptional leadership in addressing Delta State’s most pressing challenges. From revamping critical infrastructure to implementing impactful social investment programs, the governor has remained steadfast in his commitment to improving lives.

He stated that in less than two years, Governor Oborevwori has set a new standard for governance in Delta State. His people-centered policies and visionary approach have positioned the state as a model for others to follow. He further emphasized that the award is not just a recognition of his efforts but a testament to his unwavering dedication to public service.

Okwagbe outlined several key accomplishments of the Oborevwori administration, including the construction and rehabilitation of highways, urban roads, and rural access routes, which have enhanced mobility and economic activities. He also commended the implementation of robust job creation initiatives, youth empowerment programs, and support for small-scale businesses.

He further noted that significant investments have been made in upgrading schools, hospitals, and health facilities to ensure access to quality education and healthcare services. The administration’s support for agriculture has also contributed to food security and job creation. Additionally, he highlighted the strengthened collaboration with security agencies and traditional leaders, which has helped to maintain peace and stability across Delta State.

Okwagbe emphasized that Governor Oborevwori’s leadership style reflects his deep connection with the masses. Rising through the ranks to become the longest-serving Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly before assuming office as governor, Oborevwori understands the struggles of ordinary citizens and has worked tirelessly to address them.

He stated that Governor Oborevwori has consistently placed the welfare of the people at the heart of his administration. His open-door policy and willingness to engage with all stakeholders have endeared him to Deltans.
