Parts of Focus Holiday Inn, a renowned hotel located on Okemesi Crescent in Garki, Abuja, were ravaged by fire in the early hours of Wednesday, January 15, 2025. The blaze, which disrupted operations at the facility, was extinguished through the swift intervention of staff and helpful residents from the surrounding neighborhood.
When journalists arrived at the scene, access to the premises was denied by hotel security, who confirmed that operations had been temporarily suspended due to the incident. The extent of the damage remains unclear, as the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Fire Service has yet to issue an official statement or respond to inquiries.
Eyewitnesses reported thick plumes of smoke emanating from the hotel, but the quick action of those present helped prevent the fire from spreading further. As of now, there are no confirmed reports of injuries or casualties.
Focus Holiday Inn, situated in a quieter area of Abuja, has been a popular destination for travelers and residents alike. The fire incident has raised concerns about fire safety measures at hospitality establishments across the Federal Capital Territory.
Efforts to reach the FCT Fire Service for comments have so far been unsuccessful, leaving questions about the cause of the fire and the speed of the official response.
