Governors know that their allocations to the states have tripled - President Tinubu speaks on the gains of removing fuel subsidy

 

President Bola Tinubu has assured Nigerians that his administration remains steadfast in its commitment to national progress, despite ongoing criticism from opposition voices.

 

The President said this while addressing members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Caucus at the State House Conference Center in Abuja on Tuesday night, February 25.

 

The President emphasised that his government is focused on delivering tangible results rather than engaging in political distractions.

 

“Our determination to deliver is unshaken despite the cacophony of misguided, unfounded, and gloomy claims made by our detractors, they will continue to talk, but we are extremely focused,” Tinubu declared.

 

The President acknowledged that the implementation of certain economic policies such as the removal of fuel subsidies has posed challenges, but he insisted that such reforms were necessary to stabilise the nation’s economy. He argued that Nigeria could not have survived under the previous subsidy regime, emphasising that state governments are now receiving increased allocations that enable them to execute development projects effectively.

 

“It is a daunting challenge. The policies are difficult, but there was no way Nigeria would have survived with the burden of fuel subsidies. Today, I can beat my chest and say that each governor here knows that their allocations to the states have tripled. We have enough funding for the local governments.” he said

President Bola Tinubu has expressed confidence in the ability of the All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership to build the nation and contribute to Africa’s growth. 

 

Tinubu made this statement on Tuesday while addressing the APC Caucus meeting at the State House in Abuja.

 

He reaffirmed his commitment to the Renewed Hope Manifesto of the APC. “We can steer the future of this country and make a difference. I like what is happening around the world. It is teaching a lesson that we, particularly Nigeria, is a great African country that can build and help Africa to grow,” he said.

 

He emphasized the need to achieve food sovereignty, not just food security, to strengthen Nigeria’s position as a key player on the continent. “I am a very happy man; the sunny side of this country is on the horizon. Things are getting better; the days of gloom are gone. We are looking at the brighter and sunnier side of our country and our people.”

 

Tinubu reassured party members of his resolve to deliver despite criticism. He acknowledged the challenges Nigerians face as a result of some of his administration’s policies but maintained that his decisions were necessary. He cited the fuel subsidy removal as an essential move to protect the country’s economy. “Our determination to deliver is unshaken in spite of the cacophony of misguided, unfounded and gloomy claims on the stage of the nation made by our detractors. They will continue to do it, but we are extremely focused,” he said.

 

He appealed to the APC Caucus members for their continued support. “Our strategic repositioning requires us to build on our success and project a forward-looking agenda that resonates with the hopes and aspirations of Nigerians. I am here promising that we are doing that. I have a commitment to our manifesto, progressive ideas and the belief.”
