Ijebu-Ife Gears Up for Grand Reception Honoring Rear Admiral Kolawole Oguntuga

The town of Ijebu-Ife is set to host a historic celebration in honor of Rear Admiral Kolawole Olumide Oguntuga, a distinguished naval officer recently elevated to the rank of Two-Star General in the Nigerian Navy.
The Ajalorun of Ijebu-Ife, His Royal Majesty, Oba Adesesan Afolorunso Oguntayo FCA, J.P., expressed immense joy as preparations neared completion for the grand reception set to take place on Saturday, February 22, 2025. Speaking to journalists during an inspection of the event setup at his palatial palace on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, the revered monarch described the occasion as a historic milestone for the community.
“Kola has made me and the Ijebu-Ife community proud, just like many of my other subjects who have excelled in their respective fields,” Oba Oguntayo stated. “He truly deserves this heroic welcome. As you can see, we are not leaving any stone unturned to ensure that Saturday’s event is grand and memorable. We are setting a benchmark for future celebrations in Ijebu-Ife.”
A Celebration of Excellence
The grand reception will commence with a horse riding procession and cultural carnival at 8:00 a.m., followed by the main reception at 11:00 a.m. The event will attract a host of dignitaries, including royal fathers, government officials, military officers, political leaders, and distinguished sons and daughters of Ijebuland.
Rear Admiral Oguntuga, currently serving as Principal Staff Officer to the Chief of Naval Staff, has earned accolades for his exemplary service, discipline, and contributions to national security and naval operations. His promotion underscores his unwavering dedication to duty and the trust reposed in him by the Nigerian Navy.
