A teacher has been jailed after she s£xually assaulted a 16-year-old pupil and ordered him to bring a gun into school to shoot a colleague in the United States.
Imagine Kay Ewer, 28, targeted the teen with special educational needs and engaged in "frequent s#xual encounters" with him for several weeks.
She was said to have exploited her position of trust by manipulating the boy for money and convincing him he was "the one".
In addition, the court heard how she bombarded the pupil with an incessant stream of text messages, demanding that he bring a firearm not only to their encounters but also to school, aiming to shoot another teacher in the leg.
However, the disturbing conduct came to light after another teacher at the Lakewood, Colorado school discovered "inappropriate writing" on the student's worksheet and alerted the authorities.
Ewer was sentenced to four years in jail following a guilty plea for s£xual ass@ult on a child by one in a position of trust and contributing to the delinquency of a minor in the first degree, with three other felony counts and a misdemeanour dropped as part of the plea deal.
At the sentencing hearing, the victim's mother addressed the court, expressing the distressing impact Ewer had on her son.
She said: "The defendant preyed on my son, leading him to believe she genuinely cared for him, all while exploiting him for money and manipulating him into thinking he was 'the one'.
"What makes this even more painful is that I trusted the defendant. Had I known what was truly happening, I would never have allowed her such close access to him."
Ewer will now be on the S£x Offenders Register for a period ranging from ten years to life, a duration to be determined by probation following her release from prison in 2029, according to PEOPLE.
The court was informed that police picked up on Ewer's "favouritism" towards the victim almost immediately upon starting their investigation in late 2023.
Her illicit relationship with the student began in September 2023 and came to an abrupt end in November after another teacher voiced concerns. Investigators found "evidence of frequent s£xual encounters, constant digital communication, inclusive of repeated derogatory remarks directed at the victim, and the introduction of drugs, alcohol, and weapons," as per a police statement.
During the sentencing, Ewer, who had been in the education sector for eight years prior to her arrest, expressed remorse, saying: "I just want to apologise to the victim and the victim's family. I'm really sorry; this will never happen again."
