AIG Zone 2 Assures Residents of Adequate Security for Eid al-Fitr Celebration
LAGOS – The Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 2 Command, *AIG Adegoke M. Fayoade, mni, psc, fisn*, has assured residents of Lagos and Ogun States of robust security measures during the forthcoming Eid al-Fitr celebration.
In a directive to Commissioners of Police in Lagos and Ogun States, as well as heads of key tactical units including the Police Mobile Force (PMF), Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD), Special Protection Unit (SPU), Counter-Terrorism Unit (CTU), and Anti-Kidnapping Unit (AKU), among others, the AIG emphasized the need for heightened security presence. He ordered increased surveillance around worship centers, shopping malls, tourist sites, marketplaces, commercial districts, social gatherings, residential areas, highways, motor parks, relaxation centers, train stations, bus terminals, and other critical infrastructure.
The AIG also instructed officers to ensure a seamless flow of traffic during the celebrations to prevent congestion and disorder.
In his goodwill message, AIG Fayoade extended warm Eid Mubarak wishes to all Muslim faithful and encouraged the public to celebrate without fear. He reassured residents of the police's commitment to their safety and urged them to remain law-abiding while fostering collaboration with security agencies to ensure a peaceful festivity.
The police further advised the public to report any suspicious activities to security operatives to prevent criminal activities during and after the celebrations.
