Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, was prevented from presenting the 2025 budget to the State House of Assembly on Wednesday.
As reported by Politics Nigeria, the budget was set to be presented before lawmakers, led by Speaker Martin Amaewhule, in line with a Supreme Court ruling that required proper approval of the state’s budget before federal funds could be released.
However, upon reaching the Assembly complex, Governor Fubara was barred from entering, effectively stopping him from submitting the budget as planned.
Speaking to journalists outside the premises, Fubara explained that his attempt to present the budget was in the best interest of the people.
He also noted that he had previously contacted the Speaker, both in writing and via phone, before deciding to appear in person.
