Tracy Morgan’s medical emergency during the Knicks vs. Heat game on Monday night was caused by food poisoning, the comedian revealed in an Instagram post on Tuesday morning.
Morgan explained that the projectile vomiting he experienced at Madison Square Garden was a result of the bad food he had eaten earlier that day.
While the cause of the food poisoning remains unclear, Morgan reassured fans that it wasn’t anything more serious. He thanked fans for their concern, sharing a photo of himself in a hospital bed, and expressed gratitude to the MSG staff who assisted him during the incident. “I’m doing ok now and doctors say it was food poisoning. Appreciate my MSG family for taking such good care of me and I need to shout out the crew that had to clean that up. Appreciate you!”
In typical Morgan style, he added humor to the situation, joking, “More importantly, the Knicks are now 1-0 when I throw up on the court so maybe I’ll have to break it out again in the playoffs #goknicks.”
The incident occurred during the first half of the game when Morgan suddenly became ill while sitting courtside. The game was delayed for several minutes as medics attended to him. Morgan was later wheeled off the court, with some bystanders reporting that they saw blood coming from his nose. However, a source close to Morgan confirmed that those reports were inaccurate.
A representative from Madison Square Garden also wished Morgan well and expressed eagerness to welcome him back once he recovers. Morgan has faced medical challenges in the past, including diabetes, a kidney transplant in 2010, and serious injuries from a car accident in 2014. Fortunately, it appears he will make a full recovery and be back cheering for his Knicks soon.
