First Lady Oluremi Tinubu Honored as 2024 Woman of the Year
Dedicates Award to Nigerian Women, Youth, and Children
The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has been named the 2024 Woman of the Year by Independent Newspaper in recognition of her contributions to national development.
The award acknowledges her impactful role as First Lady, her previous service as a legislator, and her tenure as the wife of a former governor.
Representing Senator Tinubu at the award ceremony, Hajia Fatima Tajudeen Abass, wife of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, conveyed her gratitude. She noted that the First Lady sees the honor as a motivation to further her efforts in uplifting Nigerians.
“She asked me to extend her appreciation to the Board of Directors of Independent Newspapers Limited for this recognition. This award will inspire her to continue her work for the betterment of the nation,” she said.The event also saw other notable figures receiving accolades. Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, was named Man of the Year, while Chief Bisi Akande, former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), received the Lifetime Achievement Award.
The awards were presented by the Chairman of the occasion, Chief Olabode George.
