Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Idanre Local Government have called on Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to consider relocating the state polytechnic to Idanre following the recent upgrade of the institution in Owo to a university.
During their stakeholders' meeting held on Saturday, March 1, 2025, in Idanre, they also urged the governor to prioritize the dualization of the Akure-Idanre road and the extension of township roads within the town. They emphasized that these infrastructural projects would enhance connectivity and drive economic growth in the area.
The meeting provided an opportunity for party members to congratulate Governor Aiyedatiwa on his inauguration for a new four-year term, expressing their best wishes for a successful and impactful tenure.
A major highlight of the gathering was the unanimous vote of confidence in Hon. Tajudeen Adefisoye, who was overwhelmingly endorsed to continue leading the “Odatiwa Odirorun” platform in Idanre Local Government. Stakeholders also commended Adefisoye and members of the Idanre Campaign Council for their role in securing victory for Governor Aiyedatiwa in the November 2024 gubernatorial election. However, they appealed to the governor to consider Idanre for strategic appointments, stressing that past administrations had overlooked the town in key government positions.
Additionally, the stakeholders extended their congratulations to the newly sworn-in executive chairman and councillors of Idanre Local Government, expressing confidence in their ability to deliver good governance at the grassroots level.
In recognition of his contributions to Idanre’s development, the stakeholders expressed their appreciation to Chief Pius Akinyelure, particularly for the ongoing road project that has significantly improved the town’s infrastructure.
The meeting also resolved to establish an Advisory Council tasked with developing a framework for the upcoming party congress. Stakeholders emphasized the need for a seamless and transparent process, underscoring the importance of unity within the party.
Reaffirming their commitment to the APC’s progress, the stakeholders pledged their unwavering support for the party’s leadership at all levels.
