CP Ronke Nurat Okunade Assumes Duty as New Commissioner of Police, Special Fraud Unit, Lagos
Lagos, Nigeria – April 10, 2025
The Police Special Fraud Unit (PSFU), Ikoyi, Lagos, has officially welcomed its new Commissioner of Police, CP Ronke Nurat Okunade, fsi, who assumed office on April 9, 2025. Her appointment follows the retirement of the former CP, Godwin Ayotunde Omodeinde, psc, mnips, who bowed out of service on April 4, 2025.
CP Okunade becomes the 31st Commissioner to head the Unit, which is tasked with investigating and prosecuting complex financial crimes and fraud-related offenses across the country.
A native of Ogbomosho in Oyo State, CP Okunade holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Ibadan. She joined the Nigeria Police Force in 1992 as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police and began her career in Ondo State Command.

A seasoned officer, CP Okunade has attended various professional trainings both locally and internationally. Her credentials include courses in Human Rights, Community Policing, Criminology Management, Strategic Leadership, and Police Mobile Force Combat Training. She is also a Fellow of the National Institute for Security Studies (NISS).
In her inaugural remarks, CP Okunade expressed gratitude to the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, for entrusting her with the leadership of the Unit. She pledged to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and integrity in the fight against financial crimes.
She also appealed to members of the public and stakeholders to continue supporting the Unit, emphasizing that collaboration is key to effectively tackling economic and financial crimes in the country.
