The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced on Thursday that it is recalling approximately 105,322 SUVs due to potential issues with their seat belts. The recall affects Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator vehicles from the 2018 to 2020 model years.
The safety concern centers around the seat belt pretensioners for drivers and/or front passengers, which may unintentionally lock. This malfunction could prevent the seat belt from retracting or extending properly, posing a safety risk in the event of a crash.
Ford dealerships will inspect the seat belt retractor date codes and replace any affected parts at no cost to the vehicle owners.
